the abs need to recover from exercise just like any other muscle. if they are training using a high level of intensity then they only need to be stimulated 2-3x a week. working them daily does not get you to a six-pack any quicker if the current level of body fat is not being reduced simultaneously

Working out your abs is the same as working out any other muscle group. It should not be done every day. Your muscles need a day or two to recover in between workouts - this includes abs. My suggestion would be to work out your abs for 15-30 minutes a few times a week.

Yes, but if you're doing it everyday, take it easy. You can't rush these things. Not only can it cause injury, it can build too much musle. I recommend you do this workout for a daily basis...
30 leg raises while wearing light ankle weights, twice a day.
Lie on your back, and raise your legs so your feet are pointing to the ceiling, keeping your legs straight at all time. This works your lower stomach musles and is very effective.
As well as 30 sits ups, twice a day.

I've heard that you can, but if you're doing muscle buidling ab exercises you'll want to do it every other day. You won't gain much by doing them every day as you have to give your muscle a chance to rebuild.
