No swiveling on your toes, stay flat footed and get as much into the shot as you can. If your going to through an upper cut, try and make it the punch that KO's the guy, watch the Holyfield/Douglas fight to see what happens when the upper cut misses and the guy counters you.

When I uppercut,
at first, I am flat on my feet.
As soon as I am bringing my fist up,
I quickly shift my foot so that I'm on my toes.
It helps to turn your body more naturally and get more power in the punch.

Rocco Jones ~
This all depends on the angle in which the uppercut is going from. if it's coming from straight up the middle than flat footed in from the outside than a slight pivot off your rear foot.

Thanks for the question Rocco Jones.

If it is a RIGHT upper-cut then go up on toes with RIGHT foot, Left foot stays flat for balance.
Vise versa for left upper-cut.
