best to hold your opponent. trap his arms under your armpits and it will be difficult for him to connect with a follow up punch. also try to push him back to the ropes by leaning on him. you give little room to maneuver.

This is a great question because you can do what everyone be for me said and it all works sometimes but the one move no one talked about was taking a standing 8 count this will give you at least 12 seconds to get your self together the reason you don,t see this that much is because no one want to take a knee but it is the safest way to buy some time with out getting caught again and getting knocked out if you don,t take a knee run I mean move because he is coming after you the feather away you are the better off you are going to be when your hurt you reflexes are slower and your vision most of the time is not as good if you took a head shot so stay away you will look bad while doing it but it,s better that getting knocked out in front of a lot of people you don,t know

What type of punch you counter with depends on what punch you got hit with. If you're hurt badly and you're able to clinch without getting hit while in the act of trying to clinch your opponent, then it is a good idea. Clinching can give you a time to rest and get your head straight while wearing down your opponent. I am of the opinion that if you're able to it's always best to fire back and hurt your opponent with a good punch after you've caught a good one. Takes away any momentum they think they've built up.

Blogbaba's been hit, and hurt, I held on. Survival instinct took over, and a full on bear hug worked for me, my head cleared and I went on to finish taking my beating. The best counter was the bell getting me back to my corner. Some guys fight harder when they are hurt others clinch and hold. The blogbaba held.

You grab your opponent in such a way as to keep him from punching and still allow yourself to connect with some body shots. It's a clinch, so the ref will step in to separate you but it gives you a moment to recover. Then, you box away from him until you have cleared your head and can continue punching back.
If the guy rushes in to try to take you out, step in and throw an uppercut. It's a beautiful punch and if landed properly can put him on the deck.

the best counter is always a jab. a jab will always get you out of trouble and also will allow your body to recouperate from any punch. that is if you are within jabbing distance, if up close its always a right or left upper cut.

Take the Mike Tyson approach, hand behind the head, pull him in real close AND BITE HIS EFFIN' EAR OFF!!
That'll show him who's boss and can hurt the most.
