I just want to do some light dusting and vacuuming. I have had a really high fever (103) and not sure how much rest I need. Should I stay in bed, or is walking around okay? I don't really like to rest.

You are mainly supposed to stay home because you are contagious, but also because your body needs rest to allow your immune system to fight off this infection. If you work too hard, you won't get this rest--you'll further stress yourself--and you'll be less able to recover.

DO NOT take alcohol baths. Rubbing alcohol can poison you, as it's absorbed through your skin. If you are concerned about bringing down your fever, a bath in tepid water (not cold) is the best.

Be careful. You don't want to overheat yourself any more. Take it easy. Why don't you watch a movie or read a book? You are quite sick, and you need rest and liquids and medication to get better.

You may not like to rest, the important thing is that you do as your doctor says, having strep can escalate into something more serious, possibly pneumonia, a temperature of 103 is very high, moving around, may cause it to increase, take tepid baths, with some rubbing alcohol in it to help bring down the temp. Getting up to a temp of 104, may bring on death, when my temp got that high, the only thing that saved my life was the fact that my nose started bleeding profusely. Do as your doctor says, and you won't regret it.

Look at it as an enforced vacation.
Rest! Good off! If it HAS to be done, ok, but, can't it wait until tomorrow?

Get out of bed. Read, did you file yourincome tax yet? Might be a good time to do it.

I would get some rest, but the main reason he told you to stay home is that you're contagious.
