My 1 year old got the flu (probably from daycare) and my wife was up all last night with the flu. My question is what can I do to prevent the flu from hitting me. One bad thing is that I have a pretty weak immune system, I think. I have started taking 1000 mg vitamin C tablets and some Multi Vitamins and I have been drinking OJ but what else can I do?

I don't think anyone can always keep from getting sick but to up your odds I would get enough good nutrition, sleep, moderate exercise and keep your hands washed especially in flu season:)

Get a flu shot from your doctor and start taking ginseng to help build your immune system so you don't get it in the future. You see in flu season there are about 12 different strains travelling around and you could end up with them all if you got exposed.

other then taking vitamins and minerals to boost your immune system and washing your hands there isnt much you can do. You can also try avoiding human contact with those who are sick. Even when they are better you have the chance of coming down with it since the virus made its way into your house.

zinc and magnesium also help boosting the immune system. Thats what I take when I start feeling like Im coming down with something then 3 days later all better.

Flu shots give you the flu, so thats not recommended. I dont know anything else to say but you could try taking Airborne if you start feeling like your getting sick.

OJ is good but not the best. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze its juice in your mouth. IT might be difficult on your taste buds but its much better than OJ. Similarly eat spicy food like curries. They increase your nasal secretions which contain lysozymes. I would also recommend hot coffee with cream.

Take Care...
