I mom has one. They are very cool. I think they are well worth the price. The all wheel drive handles very well in the sand. The suspension can be lifted and lowered by the push of a button. The passenger seats and areas are somewhat roomy. We took a trip to Baja in it. It was a very comfortable ride. Gas mileage is ok. It has a nice premium sound system. I think you should get it, if you can afford it. The thing I like about it the most, is that not everyone has one. They are not played out.

We have a Jetta that has been outstanding, prior to that we had Beetle's, GTI's and Rabbits, now the Rabbit is back again. I have test driven the Touareg, and it felt great! I want it, too!
What I love about my current Jetta is that it's only ever had its scheduled maintenance, no repairs, no problems. And that a/c blows snow in the hot summer months! It handles like a much more expensive car and is quick.
Consumer Reports is a great tool to use when considering a car purchase. They have a new car buying guide and a used car buying guide. Most libraries carry the guides and magazines or you can look online for more info. They are a great source of information! We don't make major purchases without consulting it, it's that good.

Good luck and have fun in whatever car you decide to buy!

Very nice SUV they have won several awards and they look good too, VW's are good safe vehicles, the only thing it it's spelled Toureg and said (Twah-reg) kind of a stupid name for such a great car but anyway.
