My mother had a very good rule that I clung to until I married. I never accepted jewelry from a man until my engagement ring. All my friends did, and then when they broke up, they either gave it back, or it sat in their jewelry box without being worn, or they would do something dramatic, like throw it in the lake. The only exception was to wear my boyfriends class ring, which of course, went back to him. It was very special when I got married (at 28) that I had never worn another piece of jewelry from another man. While you may think you'll be together forever, you are still very young, and if you stay together, won't it make your engagement ring more special? Just something to think about.

I don't fully understand your problem here. In the first place a promise ring isn't much different than the old trading of rings kids did when your dad was younger to imply they were "going steady." I mean it isn't a wedding ring yet. Second, if your B/F is intelligent enough to want to talk to your dad about it than I bet they can come to a decision together and there will be no problem. Your father may surprise you, he really was young once too.

oh gosh! youre too young! very young my dear!.. at that age, you should enjoy first your time with friends and families. .boyfriends will come and go. love can wait. right? why dont you go to school and one day you will meet a better man! much better than your boyfriend now. he's young and youre young then how did you both know about love?, i mean TRUE LOVE.
"dont jump up, just take one step at a time" so you'll enjoy more and much happy about life. dont be too carried-out by your emotions. its not love! its only an infatuation. you soon realize it one day!
dont overpower your heart of what you believe is true. think!

it just a promise ring, not an engagement ring. he promises to be there for you and love you everyway possible. he doesnt have to talk to your dad to give you a PROMISE RING.
