some ppl seem very closeminded, if you were told that say the gov't was behind 9/11, or aliens are real, or egyptians had help w/ the pyramids, or that there is another set of physics we don't know, would you just dismiss it, or do the research to form an educated opinion.

I am never closed minded and am always open enough to anyones experience or story. If it might be a little something really out there I don't show my disapproval..i try looking it up and verify for myself the logic behind everyones story.

I like to think of myself as 'open minded'. But in the end, we all have our 'core' values and beliefs.

And one of mine is parsimony. That is preference for the least complex explanation for an observation.

So in the case of 9/11, I am aware that there were phone calls from passengers on the planes. There was evidence of those involved having taken flying lessons.

And while it is not impossible for a sick administration to engineer something like that to rally support to their cause, however much I might disagree with GBW, that seems to me to be a 'step too far'.

So no, I'm not (yet) inclined to research to disprove such a theory, because quite frankly, so far there just isn't enough evidence to suggest to me that it is remotely likely.

And the same goes for lots of things such as faked moon landings to JFK conspiracy theories. So while I'm aware I could be wrong, well, you've got to draw the line somewhere. Or you'd be chasing around for 'evidence' all the time, instead of enjoying life. Well, that's my opinion.

If there was binding proof sure.

But when it comes to religion people love to argue and contend. Any true Christian knows the spirit of contention is not of the spirit of God.

In religion I have spent over 8 years of searching the scriptures and looking at every peice of evidence.

Unfortunatly the only person who confirm a church to me was God through the holy Ghost.

I took a challenge from the LDS church which said that if I read the book of Mormon and asked God in the name of Christ if it was true I would get a answer. Which I did.

That eliminated, evolution, scientoligy, wicca, prodistants and all other sects. I have found all of those to be made or altered by men to try and dissprove God.

The 9/11 thing I'd explore, the aliens no, I've done the usual teenage thing of exploring it and came up with no evidence, although I'd view the evidence first and if it seemed real I'd explore, however I've done enough research in my time regarding religion to reach the conclusion it's all a fairy story, however if Jesus turned water into wine, healed the sick and brought about world peace in front of me, I'd convert but short of that happening I wouldn't get into it now

I am open for every sort of opinion, but I will take it serious only if there is more than a story or an anecdote behind it. Too many people talk too much unfounded nonsense.

If some drunk in the pub said it, probably. However, if somebody showed a carefully worked thesis, supported by TESTABLE evidence, then it would be different.

You know where this is going, don't you?

A 2,000 year old book verses a large number of scientific studiws.

I would have an open mind and would do the research. That doesn't mean that I would find anything to convince me, but I would be willing to look into it.....doesn't mean that there would be any real proof to prove it though.

no i am open to suggestion. but you would have to have a real convincing argument....you simply cannot make a statement without having some proof of your facts.....
