Yesterday was the first time I ever answered that question, out loud, though it's been bouncing around in my skull for at least forty years. My wife was the lucky one to hear it. She didn't like it, but after talking about it for an hour or so, she realized she actually would have to give the same answer.
My children, the 3 that still live with Mom and Dad, claim that thier answer is the same as mine, which doesn't surprise me at all.
My wife's initial response, of mortification, taught me that I have to approach the subject from another direction. Most of those called my family and friends, I believe, will respond the same appalled way as my wife, if I put it to them in the manner that I subjected my wife to (that is if I ever tell anyone else. (O: From now on, I have to open with this disclaimer: Although what I'm going to say is the one thing I know is true, my suspicions are that there are many, many truths.
