Yes my Dad taught me many years ago. I just write with my finger on my forehead the time I want to wake up. It works.

I'm no health and brain expert but I can "do this". Although, I, and all of those others, don't actually do anything. You can't physically "tell" your brain, especially your unconcious one, to do anything. However, if a person has something they need to wake up for e.g. an early meeting or something that they are excited about, like Christmas morning. If the emotion or event is strong and important enough to the individual then the unconcious brain will wake itself up. People have no control over this so theoretically, everyone should be able to do this. Even you. And yes, you are right in saying that it is truly fascinating.

well actually my mind got used to waking up at 7:10 even though i have my alarm at 7:15 and i wake up 5 mins earlier and i turn my alarm off cause i just hate the noise it makes and if i fallspleep i hear the alarm at 7:15 i usely dont cause as i told you i wake up at 7;10 every morning so i can start getting ready 4 work
so your mind gets used to waking up at the time that you have been doing so for more than a week or so

Good question. I believe it is called your mental body clock. It is most noticable when you are used to getting up at a certain time and you wake seconds before the alarm goes off.

Im not quite in the braket of telling myself when to wake up as such but i do always manage to wake about 2mins before my alarm every morning, its rare my alarm beats me to it.
Probably a case of getting up at the same time every morning for a number of years my body has adjusted

My mum swears by it but I haven't tried it myself. But seeing your question and some of the answers, I'm going to give it a go! I wake up every single morning between 4am and 5am and only manage to doze before my alarm goes off at 7am, so i spend most of the day totally knackered. RIGHT...I'm going to try it tonight!

Yes, it is quite possible for most people, including myself. Your inner clock is well tuned, and i'm guessing you probably refer to a clock a lot during the day, giving your body a certain timing every day. Like when my stomach always growls at approx. 12:13 in the midday...signing to me and everyone around me that its time to be fed. The monster dwells within.

Everyday, no matter how late I stay up, I always wake up at 6:37 every morning. I'm not sure why I do this, but it really makes me mad.
