I want to build a box with a headunit in it with like 2-3 speakers (6x9's), that will let me bring it in whatever car I want, plug it in and be able to use it.... How do I do this easily? the cars are in the late 60's and early 70's

It would be pretty simple. Just build your box with the speakers and head unit, and connect the head unit to the speakers inside the box. Your leftover wires should be constant power, accessory power and ground. You can combine the accessory and constant power wires together, extend them along with the ground wire, and attach a cigarette lighter type-plug to the end. The plug needs to be able to handle at least 10 amps of current. Most cigarette lighters can provide this kind of power, so you should be able to plug the box into both your vehicles provided the cigarette lighters work. Alternately, you can install new cigarette lighter outlets under the dash in the vehicles, and run new wiring to the battery for power.

If you want to listen to the radio on your system, you'll need to install an antenna as well. Unless you install some kind of battery backup, your station presets and clock settings will be lost when you unplug the box.

That's a tough one... I would most likely run a wire from the battery to the inside of the car if there is not a radio power wire already in it. Next, ground the radio to some metal in the car. Last, connect your speaker wires for the 6x9s to the speaker wires on the radio and you should have what you're looking for. This should work, but you should ask someone more qualified than me. I suggest sparky lol

Better throw them away and buy another new car instead of spending time, effort, energy, and money. Unless that is your business or for leisure, then use the car battery for your separate sound system with that 2-3 speakers.
