Yes. It is a natural body nutrient. However, it should be used in moderation when refined sugar is added to other foods. It's very high calorie and it's likely to cause weight gain if the calorie intake is higher than the amount of exercise. It's generally better to eat foods that are naturally sweet, such as fruits, because you are also getting vitamins and fiber and not just sugar. There's nothing wrong with occasional sweets and desserts but it should be in moderation.

We all know that white sugar is like the devil. It's got zero nutritional value and rots our teeth. It also makes us feel crappy when we eat it because it makes our blood sugar level spike up and then come crashing down.
Have you heard of Sucanat? It stands for Sugar Cane Natural. It's sugar in its most natural form - pure cane juice with only the water removed. This process preserves all the vitamin-filled molasses. It's organically grown with no added preservatives or additives.
Sucanut can be used in place of white sugar or brown sugar when baking, and adds a wonderful flavor due to the molasses. Unlike refined white sugar, Sucanat contains iron, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin B6, potassium and chromium.

Refined sugar is known to be not good for you. It makes your blood sugar imbalanced, damages your teeth, and depletes your b vitamins. Sugar can make you gain weight, and too much over a period of time can lead to type 2 diabetes. Eating fruit has no bad effect as its natural fruit sugar. .

Sugar is a completely natural substance, so in fact it is not BAD for you, as long as you do not go overboard . It really has no nutritional value and the calories in it can add up quickly, plus it can cause cavities so just watch the amount you consume.
