I always thought that silver spoon trick was a myth, but it works, I have tried it many times (even with ordinary spoons). Keeps a sparkling wine in a fridge about three days sparkling (not like when just opened, but still). Maybe somebody will give a scientific answer!

This is a myth that was actually busted by the TV show Mythbusters! I believe that the best way to keep spatkling wine/champagne fizzy is to re-cork it! However, once the bottle is opened and the pressure released, its only a matter of days until it is flat.

It still goes flat you better to get your self a bottle stopper then it will keep its fizz for sure or just drink it in one session solves the problem .

Well because silver flakes have a load of carboytrated ions that actually add to the fizz in any sparkiling wine instead of maintaining it.
