She may have some medical condition that causes her to not swallow when sleeping or she sleeps on her stomach and doesnt close her mouth. Some medications cause this. It isnt normal and is a result of someone not swallowing when they are sleeping.

There are some medical conditions that cause this and I used to salivate when I was a kid and even once in a while now but we found out it was because I have multiple sclerosis.

They dont know for sure how old someone is when they get MS, but they do know that it is most likely started in the teenage years. The odds of it being MS is rare, I just wanted to use that as an example of what can cause it.

Tell your parents and tell them you are concerned something is wrong because it isnt normal. Plus it is gross.

The easy, mean way: Take a picture/video and show it to people she looks up to. She'll stop right away afta dat.

Thhe more loving way, although might be irritating: Keep telling her every time she's doing it. All the time. Help her to see how gross it is. Eventually, the habbit will dissapear.

EDIT: grrr....you edited the question. While she's sleeping? I don't know.
