Any kind of turtle will work (sea, soft-shelled, snapping,etc). It would really help if some someone knew where to go to actually hear the word(s) being pronounced for me but any help with this is greatly appreciated.

The Choctaw word for "turtle / terrapin" is luksi (look-see). There is a Choctaw story called "Little Ants Help Turtle" whose Choctaw title is: "Shokvni Chipinta yvt Luksi Apela": Please see web link below:

Luksi Humma, or "Red Turtle" is also a Choctaw personal name.
