Before I start this question might I add I have went through 3 rounds of antibiotics with no results. I am a 29 year old otherwise healthy woman. I have had a left supraclavicular lymph node the size of a golf ball for 2 months now it is nontender, the only pain is like its sitting on a nerve and hurts up the left side of my head and down my arm. After seeing my dr she took bloodwork and my wbc was 3.2, my hemoglobin was 9 I had protien and bilirubin in my urine also. My ct scan showed the same findings with my lymph node.. it was rather large. I have night sweats, unexplained fevers (up to 102 everyday), extreme fatigue, itchy skin, and over all feel worse than I ever have in my life. She is sending me to a surgeon for a biopsy. I have a strong family history of cancers of all types. This is really scaring me... what are the possibilities?

Dear one, do NOT stop bugging your doctors. Have the lump biopsied. I do not want to scare you, but you are starting out EXACTLY like I did. You have classic signs of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma [night sweats, itching, weight loss]. There is still the possibility of another explanation, but you need to know for sure. Also, if it is something bad, there are good treatments out there, so don't fret.

I don't know if it will help, but - Try Vitamin C therapy. A few years ago a cancer researcher came out with a paper saying that the best cancer and infection fighter as yet found was Interferon, but, at the time, it cost $15,000 a gram. The good part was that Interferon was a product of the natural breakdown of Vitamin C in your system. Shortly after that paper came out the FDA tried to make Vit C by prescription only. Guess why? The FDA says that the RDA for Vit C is 64 mg a day, just enough to prevent scurvy. Linus Pauling, who got a Nobel Prize for his work with Vit C and a second Nobel Prize for organic chemistry, said 1000 mg a day as a minimum and 2000 mg a day if you are sick. On a personal note, I was sick twice a year, for 2 weeks at a time, for 20 years, and was flat on my back for at least a week each time. To this day the doctors have no idea what the problem was. After I gave up on the doctors I tried Vit C. I took enough to keep from being sick and just below too much to get diarrhea. It followed a bell curve over 2 weeks with a peak at 40,000 mg a day – about 300,000 over the 2 weeks. I was not sick for those 2 weeks and after a couple of years of that I have not been sick since. I did not dissolve my kidneys, as some doctors said would happen. I did not get any calcium build up or stones and did not dissolve my cojones or solidify my joints. Try it, but drink a lot of water – Vit C is a natural diuretic.

I don't want to scare you but there's a chance that it is serious. A family history of cancer, among other causes, predisposes a person to the disease. It is really good that you are having a biopsy. This will help to determine if it is malignant or benign(which i hope is really benign) and from there, the doctor will know what is the best course of treatment for you. I've had this nodule on my thyroid area for some years and I just ignored it since it didn't cause me any pain or any discomforts...I just allowed it to sit there until finally I had it checked after the prodding of my bf(now my hubby)...it was found out to be malignant...I had two FNABs and had it removed just last January.
Goodluck on your biopsy! God bless! i'll be praying that it is not serious.

You have to investigate also your gaster-left supraclavicular lymph node is often so called Virchow's lymph node (neoplasisas on the gaster). You have to do ultrasonografic evaluations of all your abdomen and,if nessessary, gastroscopy. You have to check out the blood for Epstein-Barr virus (Infective mononucleosis) and analyses for hepatic viruses. Also, there is need of evaluation of the immunological status (Hronic fatigue Syndrome). The answer will somewhere in the above.

This is what we call a sentinel node. It is the first showing of lung cancer, sometimes breast cancer, and of course lymphoma must be ruled out.

You can avoid cancer if you don't already have it by eating apricot kernels--3-5 per day. You can get them at the health food store. Best of luck.
