A family on wife swap only ate raw meat which they slaughtered on their farm. When this family ate takeaway food they had bad stomach pains the following day. The hospital dietician while she did not recommend the family's diet she could not say whether this was bad for them or not.The dietician did not explain the reason why take away food had such an adverse effect on this family. There is plenty of information about the high fat content and additives in the western diet but I have never read anything about the benefits of eating raw meat. I would be interested in your comments.

We've evolved so that our optimum food is now cooked, rather than raw.

Although restaurants in some countries (UK, but more so in France) serve meat varying from well done, right through to 'blue', via rare. These seem to be perfectly acceptable and tasty, so, if you wanted to, there should be no reason why you couldn't have a nice, fresh, healthy piece of beef or lamb raw...

There is no reason why clean, healthy, parasite-free raw meat shouldn't be just as good as cooked (take sushi for instance, that's far healthier than cooked fish, and tastier too in my opinion!) but you have to be EXTREMELY careful with raw meat, especially poultry and even more so with pork...

A cat's (and dog's) teeth go bad and rot because there are only 3 things that will clean teeth. Not dry, not wet/canned and not ground up raw. The only 3 things are feeding raw meaty bone such a turkey/chicken necks, brushing the cat's teeth yourself or putting the cat under and the vet cleans the teeth. 1) eat raw in the wild it's natural for them 2) they have more acidity in there stomach and therefore can handle raw food The 2 statements above are true. I've been feeding since Jan '09. Binnie has gotten an infection once during this time period because of the bacteria. She got an infection due to her petsitter not washing out her food bowl with antibacterial soap as instructed. This was the only reason. When feeding raw food, most of the food stays in the body and acts as nutrients, so there is very little waste. My cats poop about 5-6 small terds and it has very low odor. Edit: Suzi. Of course that study is grossly biased since it's done by Purina. Someone who has done thorough research on raw feeding knows to always feed a variety of meats. Rabbit lacks taurine and apparently thiamine. You should never feed just one meat all of the time as that one meat will lack something that another wouldn't. If I were to feed my cats purely chicken super mix (2/3 meats/bone, 1/3 organs), my cats would have an overdose of several vitamins as that's too much organ all of the time. My cats have a mixture of chicken, chicken super mix, turkey, duck and I'm introducing quail. Variety is a balanced diet.

Be careful with raw meat, it is full of bacteria that can only be killed by heat (i.e cooking)
that family had devised a way to prolly clean it very well of cure it, and their intestines prolly grew counter- bacteria to help digest the food.
That's why the take out cause such a commotion, their intestines prolly didn't have anything means of breaking it down

There is also a Raw Food diet, whereas people only eat raw fruits, veg., and nuts as is.

I personally think that there are too many perservatives on the food here but the raw foods diet is way too extreme. If you clean and cook your food in a healthy way you should be fine.

Good question. It depends on whether the meat contains any harmful bacteria or parasites. If not, then it is probably better for you. But who wants to risk parasites now-a-days?

On the other hand, all processed food since the 1970s contain neuro-toxin called MSG (Monosodium glutamate). Funny coincidence.... Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has increased 600 percent since the 1970s. Think about it!

No. Raw meat contain germs and worms. Dogs fed with raw meat with blood tends to be more wild and bite people more easily.

I would think that it's really bad for you people can get very ill from eating under cooked chicken. They probably felt ill because their systems would not be used to digesting cooked meat and bread.

i think the kids were just play acting because they didn't want to eat normal food.
The reason we cook our food is to kill the Bactria and i think the they are so used to eating it now that they can stomach it/
I bet the kids hated it when there nutty perents first made them eat it. But i bet that they had to go stave to death.
The kids were skin and bones
