Maybe you should call him or send him an email and ask him what his motives were for that dance?
Tell him how you feel about him and ask him if he wants to make it work. If he doesnt give you a straight answer I'd say to just let him go. You dont need to get yourself all stressed out over someone who is just messing with your head.
If he asked you out to a formal dance after you broke up, I'd say he still wants to be with you. Maybe he's not sure if you feel the same way and he's waiting to hear from you

Who knows what his deal is, I mean this type of thing can happen for lots of reasons but what I think you need to do is really look into it and see if its worth it. Maybe he though he liked you and then got scared when he found out you liked him and dating was a serious option. I know you don't want to hear this but it may be best to give him space. Because going after him usually doesn’t work. We all know we want what we can't have. I am guessing the more he ignores you the more you think about him...So go see other people and pretend like it doesn’t matter and hopefully it will stop mattering and then who knows he could come back and if not at lease you have started to move on. Time seems to be the only thing that helps. Anyway best of luck

You know, he may have just been seeing the dance as a one night date, it might not even occur to him that you could want a deeper relationship with him again.
If you really do want an actual relationship back, you're going to have to talk to him. It sounds more to me like he was just interested in the dance though, and you'd be better moving on.

My opinion that is his way to tell you to move on. Do you know the song kiss and said goodbye. You meet for one more time, for the last dinning out, last dance, and the last kiss. As soon you accept it over and move on, it will be a whole lot better for you (mental) once the crying is over, its time to start a new. Keep your head up and your heart free from bitterness.

you've accepted , stick with it , and take it as far as you want it to go , you are the one in control of where this will go , if you dont feel ready , or dont want to dont , .. but you did kiss , so there are feelings for him which are mutual, so just see where it will go. because you have already accepted part way by kissing him , so if you feel it was a wrong move then back away out of it.. (i know you wont tho) good luck

Call him and ask him. Demand a straight answer too. Don't take I don't know for an answer. If he says that then walk. Don't let whoever you're with define what you do with your life. If he doesn't answer his phone then take that as a no. Life is too short to wait around for one asshole to make up their mind.
