Tire wear is something that no matter what vehicle you own, the tires will wear at the same rate, for the tire matter, just as long as you buy a quality tire with a long life rating, and have proper maintace done to keep the tires in good shape, proper rotations, alignments, ect. you should be fine.
For the brakes, fine a vehicle that has a brake upgrade package, or a larger vehicle, like a Dakota, or a 1500Chevrolet, or an F150, (I neglected Ram because of its over all size compaired to the rest), larger vehilces will usually have a better brakeing system, they have to stop more weight in the same distance, as a smaller car, or a similar distance, i should say.
As for what vehicle to buy. Thats for you to decide. A truck would seem right for what you are doing. With a truck as a downside, they usually have larger engines and burn more gas. If you are ok with this then this would be the vehicle for you. If you decide on a smaller car, they usually have smaller engiens, and to get the strength needed to carry the weight of the paper, you're sometimes burning the same amount of gas because the engine has to work harder to produce the power needed.
I would personally go with a small truck. I, myself, drive a Ford Ranger (1989) with the 2.9L and the M5OD (manual 5 speed) transmission. I get pretty good gas milage with is, and since its a standard, I get pretty good power in low gears, where I burn less gas with it. I work at a garage, and my truck is usually used on parts runs for parts where a currior wont pick it up, ie. engine, transmission, differential, ect. I've never had a problem with the truck.
Oh, and proper maintance is a must too, Oil change for what it sounds like for you, every 2000km because of the amounts of idoling the vehicle does, just because the vehicle isn't moving, doesn't mean the engine isn't wearing. Also, proper flushes, brake flush, transmission flushes, power steering flushes, ect, will help the vehilce run smoother and will help the vehicle last longer.

Maybe you shouldn't be so lead footed. If you don't floor the gas pedal then you won't wear out tires so fast and you won't have to stop so hard either. The added benefit is that you don't waste so much fuel.

anything you get will take abuse the best thing to do is preventive maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, tune- ups, and get lifetime warranty on your brakes or slow down when driving
