Me and my chihuahua Roxy take pet training classes at petsmart...there is a woman there who has a black pomeranian and she paints her dogs nails. I asked her if she used special polish and she said "no just the same nail polish I use" wouldnt human nail polish contain chemicals harmful for dogs. I dont wanna paint Roxys nails.....I am just wondering!

Tell the lady right away that this is a very serious idea she has threated the dog with!
I work at the vet and alot of dogs and cats come in sick because of people putting human nailpolish on them.
The animal with no daught lick or smell the chemicals and the fumes will go through the lungs and toxicate the canine and poison its lungs so just go buy a bottle of cheap animal polish and give it to her so she can STOP using the chemicals on the dogs paws.

They do sell "doggie nail polish", but believe it or not, the only difference between them is that the pet stuff doesn't wear off or chip as easily. It's more like enamel modeling paint than regular anil polish.
Unless the dog licked the wet polish (which would ruin her manicure), there's no risk whatsoever. Groomers always let it dry before setting the dog free to roam/lick itself.
Any kind of nail polish will not hurt the dog as the likelyhood of them ingesting any at all is so slim and even if they did like off some dried polish, it would be such an insignificant amount that it would not effect the dog in the least.

It should be fine as I know a lot of people that have done it. Just make sure it drys before they walk around so they don't lick the wet polish. There is dog polish, but it's probably made with the same stuff. If you have doubts read the labels. I think OPI makes dog polish.

i used human nail polish on dogs all the time, just let it dry before you let the dogs run around, dog nail polish is the same as people its just packaged for dogs

It is a VERY bad idea. The dog could easily injest poisonous chemicals.

Idk, but it sounds silly. what if the dog licks it. why does it matter if its nails are colored. btw roxy, cute name for a little chihuahua.
