I am out of the country and I may have to do my taxes when I come back or wait until next year to do them I know there are penalties. The most embarassing thing is that I don't have my W'2's. Does anyone know if you can request them from the state instead of your employer. They will give me a real bad attitude.

Thanks

The ONLY place you can get them is from your employer. If your employer fails to provide copies, call the IRS and file a missing W-2 complaint.

Being outside the country does extend your filing deadline by 60 days. There's no reason why you can't file a return from overseas. Tens of thousands of Americans do it every year.

Unless you work for the state, they will not have your W2. A W2 is prepared by the employer, not the state.

You are going to have to request it from your employer. Maybe you can email and ask for it so you don't actually have to talk to them?

Only your employer can give you a W2, not the state.
