I had my wedding on a friday. I was in the same situation. My now husband and I planned and had our wedding in 2 months time. If you have your wedding later in the day on friday I'm sure a lot people would be able to show up. We had our wedding at 4:00. Our reception started at 6. We did all our pictures before the wedding, except the bride and groom. That way we had time to get to the reception.
The good things:
easier to get the church and find a hall for the reception
much cheaper than having it on saturday
it was easier to find a florist (Even though we got married on Mother's Day weekend) and the flowers were delivered when we wanted and had more time to go thru them because they were not rushed with "too many deliveries"
it was easier to find most everthing for a friday night
the only bad thing was that not everyone was able to show up to the church, but most did.
if you give people enough notice, a lot of them may be able to get off early or take the day off.

YES!!! We are actually having a Friday night wedding. And I have been to about 3 others that were on a Friday night also. Of course you're taking a chance because some people will have to take off for the ceremony, but you'll be surprised at how many people will show up. We sent out our invites about 3 weeks ago and we've only received 1 no...and that's because they don't get along with the family. It will be just fine! And...it's a lot cheaper.

We considered it but managed to get a Saturday date. Now a lot of people get married on Friday - as you say, many places are fully booked for Saturday and now even Sunday in some places. If people want to be at your wedding they will book the day off work - that's how you have to think about it. If they are important to you I would hope they would make the effort for you. You also get cheaper rates at hotels and wedding venues if you don't have a weekend so you may get a real bargain... Good luck.

We were seriously thinking about this, and the only thing putting us off is a lot of our friends are chefs for corporate companies so may be working on a Friday night, or else be too exhausted to come as they work mad hours during the week. I think it would be very successful if you have friends that work the normal hours, people could still go to work during the day if it is inappropriate for them to take the day off at short notice, and it gives people the whole weekend to enjoy after the wedding is finished.

I think it's perfectly fine. My brother had his wedding on a Friday and it was great. His ceremony was later in the afternoon somewhere around 3 p.m., and a lot of people attended that. You have to remember a lot of people don't go to the church even if it is on a Saturday or Sunday. Usually the reception isn't until the evening anway, so your guests will still have time to get there. I wouldn't sweat it. It's your special day, and the people you love and care about will be glad to go out of their way to be there for you. Good Luck!

Hopefully you were able to get a Friday evening wedding! However I have seen weddings on other days of the week and there were plenty of people in attendance. I have been to weddings on Sunday where no one bothered to show. It has to do with the prople getting married not the day of the week or weekend you get married on. It also gives the added bonus of not having to work the next day you may end up with an all night party!

I have been to many and I perfer them, my freinds was great
also you go to work that day, then you go home for a little bit, then boom you are off to the wedding, it doesnt take up anyone full day
think about it this way, if you go to a wedding on a Sat , afternoon or night, it is a full day, but with Friday weddings you still get to do a kick *** thing and then have the whole weekend, not just Sunday

Yes, we had success! Our wedding was Friday night (ceremony starting at 6pm), and all guests who lived in the state made it there on time, even though there was rush hour traffic. Its a good excuse to take half day off work or leave early, and being a Friday night, people were in the mood to party! Go for it!

I am having a Friday wedding. It worked out to be heaps cheaper.
Boss' will let people have time off for a wedding. We haven't come across with a lot of complains but no matter when you have your wedding someone will complain about the time/date whatever.
Do what you want and what will make it easier for you in the long run.

Friday weddings rule because a lot of people will try to skip out of work for that day just to come because its an excuse not to go to work
PLUS everyone will have more fun because its a weekend and a lot of them won't have to go to work the next day
If you have a Friday wedding, make sure to keep the bar stocked and the music going! Im sure everyone will have a blast
