You can get most specs of your car from Parkers web site, but it won't tell you about your brakes.

Here's the quick and easy way to find out.

Get a ruler and measure the thickness of the brake disk.

A 280mm disk will be 22mm thick
A 288mm disk will be 25mm thick

Obviously the disk may be worn down a bit, but if it is over 22mm thick then the disk is a 288mm disk

I got the above info looking at parts listings on www.eurocarparts.com
However, on looking at parts on www.gsfcarparts.com, they only list 280mm disks for your car.
The 288mm disks are for the 1.8 Turbo and 2.3 V5 cars - both petrol.

as for the brakes part of the question either have a quick look through Haynes manual in Halfords or ask your local VW dealer.

Check the service manual for the specs. As for the brakes, you may just have to measure them.
