My fiance doesn't want to wear white so they will all be wearing dark brown tuxes. Does the groom and the groomsmen match or does the groom wear something a little different? And how about the father of the bride?
I ask the tux place and they gave me that "anything goes today" answer.... but what is traditional done?

Yes, I want brown and the groomsmen will be wearing pink vest and ties. And they are all OK with it.

My husband wore a white vest with a black tux and all the groomsmen and my father wore silver vests. They all wore the same style tux.
You can also use boutonnieres to distinguish the groom from the groomsmen - your fiance's boutonnieres would be a little different from the ones the other men are wearing, but they could all be dressed alike.
In a very Traditional Wedding, it is appropriate for all members of the Wedding Party to be identical in their attire. However many couples choose a slightly less Traditional approach and distinguish the Groom from the Groomsmen.

My fiance, groomsmen and ushers are all wearing the same tie/vest combo and tux style. The only difference is that my fiance's tux is a step up from the others since it was free (I bought my wedding dress at David's Bridal and they give the groom a free tux at After Hours.) We didn't want to make the groomsmen pay for what is basically the same tux but with a higher end label though, so we opted for the same suit in a different brand. Good luck!

Well how bout a white vest and tie for the groom? Or a deep teal?
Usually the groom has something that makes him stand out from the other men such as: a vest vs cummberbunds, tails, different boutinerre (usually a given), different colored accents, different colored tux, etc.
The father of the bride should match the groomsmen.

In all of the weddings I've been to, the grooms have worn the same jacket/pants as the groomsmen. The only difference was the color of the vests. The groom was usually in white or silver, while the groomsmen's vests matched the bridesmaids dresses. (Which may not go over well with your groomsmen, especially if your girls are in pink or purple, in which case I suggest white vest for your honey, and silver or another accent color for the guys.)

Usually the groom and groomsmen wear the same outer color tux, but the vest or shirt is usually different. My future husband is having like black and silver where the groomsmen, including fathers, are wearing silver. Usually the fathers wear the same as the groomsmen.

I usually see black tuxes. The groom will either wear a white jacket with black pants and a white vest, or his tux (pants and jacket) will be black with a white vest. The groomsmen wear black tuxes with a vest that matches the bridesmaid's dresses. The father of the bride and the father of the groom can wear black tuxes with vests that compliment (but not match) the bridesmaid's dresses, or they can wear silver or black vests.
I've never seen brown tuxes. Are you sure that's what you want?

it' really up to you and what you are looking for. I've seen it done where they all wear the same tux and then the other way the groom wears something a bit different, color or just a shad off the groomsmen. As far as the father I would put him a a black tux no make sure everyone knows he's the father. Honestly its really up to the both of you and pretty much anything does just try to make sure it wont look like two different wedding parties up there.

The groom should wear something a bit different - he could wear a lighter shade of brown maybe. Usually the fathers just wear a nice suit.
