Trying to check status of amended refund, but i need to speak with a live person, not the automated system. have tried pressing * and # and 0 but get nothing. anyone know how to get through to a live person

You probably can't get a live person when you are trying to check the status of an amended return. You can more likely do that online. Go to the IRS site, put in your social security number and go from there.

In the front of your tax instruction booklet, there is an area where it discusses checking on the status of your refund and gives a number to call. Getting to a real, live person is a problem, especially this time of year. Going to the on-line web-site might give you more success. Try www.irs.gov and go from there. Good luck.
