Business on Korean. Obvious answer.

if you're using award points and you have to choose ...

Business Class will always be better internationally than economy....

Even though Cathay's Business might be slightly better than Korean's Business class... if you have to choose between coach and business. I think the answer is obvious.

first you must take into consideration the single most important thing when it comes to deciding on an airline to fly ...... SAFETY. Cathay Pacific has NEVER lost an airplane in its history due to pilot error or mechanical failure. they have lost 2 planes since their very first flight. one in 1954 when the Chinese military shot it down, and another in 1972 over Vietnam when a bomb was detinated on board. Cathay is without question one of the safest airlines in the world ..... if not THE safest airline in the world. on top of that ...... NOBODY matches Cathays service and hospitality.

on the other side we have KAL ...... an airline with very questionable safety procedures and has lost quite a few planes over the years. this one is a no brainer, i would rather fly in a Cathay Pacific bathroom then first clas on KAL.

ps - T.A.P. - get real ......what exactly is an airline to do to quiet crying children ? clearly you dont fly much. i also dont believe a damned word you say when you CLAIMED you got horrible service on Cathay. do you have any idea how many awards Cathay has gotten for hospitality ???? it is the reigning 2006 Airline of the Year. i have over 170,000 miles on my Asia Miles frequent flier program, and all 170,000 miles were flown on Cathay. i have NEVER had a single flight where the service was anything but excellent. you sir are a bitter man because of crying babies, welcome to the world of air travel kiddo ..... buy an IPod, theyre pretty cheap now a days. to top it all off you claim the food was horrible. LORDY !!!!!!!!! you know Cathay features food prepared by the top restaurants in Hong Kong ..... right ????? clearly you were upset about crying children (something that NO AIRLINE can prevent) and have blamed the entire thing on Cathay. grow up, my goodness.

Business on Cathay...

But since that isn't quite an option, I'd go the KAL route. I've taken KAL business from HK to the East Coast. It isn't as nice as Cathay (the planes on KAL are a bit older and do not recline as much) but compared to the tiny economy on Cathay, it is worth the layover in Seoul to be a bit more comfortable.

Which alliance are your miles with? You might be able to use them on your secondary airline as long as they are in the same group.

Some years back I kept a Praying Mantis as a pet, and they only eat live food! Consequently, I acquired the skill of GENTLY capturing live flies in flight, or off any surface, so that I could feed my Mantis uninjured and active prey. Most moving incident was late one night when on arrival home I found my Mantis shedding its skin. I watched, enthralled, for over an hour and I shall never forget seeing my Mantis gradually extend and spread its brand new rainbow-shimmering wings. Next day I released it onto a grapevine in my garden, the same garden in which I subsequently found a swarm of very tiny, recently hatched mantids! They are the cutest little creatures you could ever imagine.

I'm a big fan of Cathay Pacific. Found them excellent when I flew with them. (in economy) They're a class above the rest.

A number of years ago I'd have strongly suggested avoiding Korean for a number of reasons, but these days they are OK.

If the price is similar, then business class has to be the way to go, just for the extra space at least .

I would NEVER, EVER fly Cathay Pacific again.

13hrs of listening to 3 screaming kids.. parents did nothing & just plonked their headphones on themselves for the entire trip.

Air stewards did nothing, even after many complaints from numerous passengers. Some demanded a refund!!!!

The general service was non-existant & when you did get "noticed" the service was belligerent. Food was crap too.

Give me business class anyday.
