Why is his nickname "Smoke"? Too bad yesterday's typical, convenient "debris caution" near the end couldn't help him out.

I'm really not sure where the name Smoke came from. We were at the Atlanta race a week ago and listened in to him and his crew on the scanner. His crew chief refers to him a lot as Smoke on the radio. Too bad he had problems at Bristol. I was hoping to see him climb the fence.
