My 6 panel doors have a semi gloss finish to them, and are lovely. However, they were sprayed before they were hung. I love the overall effect of the spraying vs. brushing or rolling, so, if possible, you might consider spraying your doors.

Put 4 legs on it. IF, it have glass in the panels, you could figure out a way to add some low light from under. If, the panels are wood with some design. You may have some small collectibles that fit in the indention and lay a piece of plate glass over the whole door (Check with Hardware Stores and Glass Shops). People could see your little Trinkets through the glass. I had a friend do something similar, though it not a door. But, he had his knife and coin collection under the plate glass. Maybe others have more ideas for you.

I personally like the look of a semi-gloss which is a little easier to wipe down. I wouldn't go with anything less than a satin which looks lovely on the walls next to a white semi-gloss door. Side note: I just did all my interior doors, I would rather paint roll my whole house again than do doors...lol.

on a stained door personally I like a semi glass, However I do have my stained oak 3pannel doors in flat finish :( But for a white door Id say satin, however I do agree with the earlier answer that semil gloss is easier to clean!! So I guess it depends on who is going to clean them:)!!
Also what is the other woodwork like, do you have the rest of the wook work painted, go with the same as that.
My Flat interior doors are not real troublesome at all so if you like/prefer satin it's not terrible for the cleaning lady!!:)

I feel this is all a matter of preference.
I always go for high shine, because it reflects the light and can be washed without
damage.
I would NEVER do a door in flat. Just too
plain.

Semi gloss or gloss, because of the contrast in light on the paint and the degree of wear expected for the surfaces.
