I have a mother cat and a kitten who was born in early November and he eats food and is getting older but he is still trying to suckle milk off his mother but she gets mad and attacks him and so he does it to his father and the father cat lets him suckle and purr and knead his hands and he will stay there for nearly 20 minutes and why does he do this even if he gets no milk?

It's a comfort thing. I have a 2 year old who still needs to suck (a blanket) before she can go to sleep. He may or may not grow out of it and I've never been able to get my kitty to stop doing it. If that's his personality, just let him be. As long the other cat doesn't mind it doesn't seem to a problem. Get him a blanket if the other cat starts running him off. ♥

The kitten just loves its mother but the mother is trying to teach the kitten that it is old enough to stop suckling milk.

It's a security thing with cats.My cats are 7- 5 and 1 and the 7 year old and the 1 year old do it to my blankets or knead my chest with their paws the vet says it"s just a way of showing affection for a cat.None of my cats was weaned to early-some Will try to tell you this is why it isn't! they are just affectionate animals and that is their way of showing it>-

I have a cat mom with two of her kittens that we kept. well they are no longer kittens, they are 4 years old and they still try to suckle off their mom who isn't pregnant as she has been nutured. it's just a natural thing, just something they feel comfortable with. it reminds them of when they were little and the attention their mom's gave them when they did this.

It's a comfort thing. My cat will jump on my lap and knead on my legs sometimes and purr. I think it just is a good memory for them.
