It is a human condition that people seek a leader.

But I don't agree with your premise about David Koresch. He was nothing like Jim Jones. And it is amazing to me that many people denounce President Bush but think that it was OK for the Clinton Administration to murder our own citizens in Waco. btw, both Clinton and Bush are Christians.

anything is possible but when a person trust in the Lord with all of their heart and will seek HIM and not a person, then people can't and won't be fooled. Some people are just seeking. The people of China are so hungry to follow "something" that they will seek anything if not given the correct way which in my and I am saying my for the sake of argument, is to follow God's word - the Bible. True Christians know not to follow man. Sure listen to the ones who are very studies and teach God's word as it should be taught but anyone with any common sense knows that God it not going to ask anyone to do what Jim Jones did or David Koresh. Our weapon, our sword is God's word, not guns, not poison.
Keep our eyes lifted towards the sky's - the day is coming when those skies will open up and Christ will be coming again.

Absolutely. Jim Jones practically wrote the book on how to do it: gather passive, sheep-like people together, and give them instruction on how to think. They'll love you for it.

Then, when you have about 1,000 of them, decamp to some isolated place where the only incoming information about the outside world comes directly from you. Tell them whatever you want them to believe, and they'll do it. You can drop the religion at this point - you're the only god they need, and they'll be happy to worship you and give you their minds, bodies and possessions.

Scientology has done the best job of using these principles so far.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Good thinking! Even the Bible says that this will happen when the Antichrist comes to power. It says that it will be SO CONVINCING that it could almost mislead even the elect (saved Christians who are supposed to be immune to this) if it were possible. The exact verse is in Matthew 24:24 and says, "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."
