on the way to school i was attacked and verbally abused by a few people all coz i was wearing a certain band t-shirt anyone else feel like they cant wear what they want without abuse

Our society has created clothing standards that do not allow individuals to express themselves freely. These standards developed because of Corporate America.

The robber barons who started these corporations thought they looked really good in suits. They were all male. They competed with each others expensive suits, sort of creating a fashion competition.

When the corporations became larger, the managers kept wearing the suits and had the workers wear blue uniforms. This created a white collar verses blue collar workplace and made sure that the pay scale was shown.

The suit remained the standard in the office, but eventually suits got cheaper and the workers unionized and got more fair pay. The workers now could afford suits. Now only workers in dirty jobs wear blue uniforms.

Now you ask what does all of this have to do with my band t-shirt? Corporations started telling workers what they could wear even when they were not on the job. This made people afraid of disobeying the clothing standards, because they could lose their incomes. That led to people becoming so strict on clothing that no one can wear anything that violates the standard dress code.

If you ever watch the show "What Not To Wear" you will see that everyone ends up dressed like they belong to Corporate America. There is no other standard.

The best thing you can do is to ignore the nastiness and wear what you like.

Maybe this is too much information or a slightly different subject, but asa male to female transexual early in transition I find it frustrating that I can't wear a skirt to work. But I am working towards that day as I can and I urge you to be yourself in all ways, including dress. As long is it is within school dress code wear anything you want honey. If they laugh ignore them, they are just jealous that you have the courage to be an individual while they are too afraid to be anything other than what they think they are expected to be.

I'm sure you looked beautiful and you shouldn't listen to other people there just jealous look if it makes you feel better i have gone through that also but the truth is it fades with time like them and most haters in your life they just become a background noise and everything just seems to make sense

i feel i can't wear what i want because i am thick, not skinny not fat with a big chest area and i can't wear the shirts that i really want to wear, and also everytime i go out in public someone always is staring or making some kind of comment about it.
