AVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES for watching T.V.??? (how does it meet adults needs)?

Advantages
- Effective means of communication because humans are VERY VERY visual.

Disadvantages
-Does not promote mental stimulation since the image is presented to you (unlike reading a book, where one is forced to imagine)

I do not watch TV and find the disadvantage is being able to talk to people very much. It seems most do watch a lot of TV and most of their general conversation is about what was on. or who did what.

Thre must be an advantage but I so far haven't figured out what it is.
