Because we're bad, bad people, RRM, you know this. No morals, incapable of love, all that stuff! =0)
edit: I see who is today's voice of irony...

I don't know if we're the last pariah, but we're certainly on the list of those who remain. In fact, while having a discussion with someone this weekend I categorized myself as one and the look I got back was one of horror, almost as if it was now a different person talking to them. Ridiculous.
I think the discrimination remains for quite a few reasons. A believer's need to keep linking religion with morality is a huge one, along with the narrow-mindedness that is still instilled by some faiths that breeds distrust and fear towards differing beliefs. If more were to "come out", as you put it (lol), it makes you wonder if that would actually change, or if these ideas are here to stay. Hmmm...

No. If the Theists were to eliminate Atheism altogether they would move on to some other group to be the next pariah. They can always find someone to abhor. Even if the USA became 100% Christian heterosexuals of a single race they would be able to find another subset to discriminate against.

The believe is kind of superinsitution. We have to know why the hollyman said and told us to do, is to find a good way for us to enlightenment our soul , or to improve our life style become calm and peace or to heaven or nirvana.
The believe of god is kind of way to calm and peace which is not the only way to reach the level. Your concentration to think about art, building, treatment, praying also can did the same result.
The big city citizens are to face to temptation and they do not know how to stop it. The visual and audio are their chaseing purpose, such as a donkey chase the carrot which is hanging before him. The carrot and control by the master holding in his hand with long stick and a tie of rod. The donkey just stop, the carrot will fall into his mouth. That is; we just stop to chase the senses feeling, our soul will enlightenment.

that's a honest question: i've got long been afflicted with the help of media depictions of Christians. regularly the AP possibilities up memories approximately "the Christian nutrition habitual" or different ridiculous issues like that, yet will forget approximately approximately reporting on matters inclusive of Christian companies being the 1st ones to respond to hurricane victims with nutrition/factors, etc. that's like the media purely relishes in falsely depicting maximum individuals of believers, and it extremely is amazingly unlucky.

I just find that incredible. In Europe Christianity has been beaten into submission. Christians are reduced to being a tiny, powerless minority yet in the US the cancer remains. American atheists should aggressively confront the believers and root them out of society once and for all.

It is a sad comment on USA society when one considers such things. Only in America as they say. Just goes to show what happens if you brainwash people in religion at an early age

Pariah's believe in Gods. So Athiests cannot be put in the category of Pariahs. (Pariahs are called as untouchables by the Hindu elites, and Athiests are exceptionally called as the unconvinceable by the majority). Are you an Athiest?

It does seem to be that way. The largest Unitarian-Universalist congregations are in the south and mid-west -- because you just HAVE to belong to something in those cultures.
I'm expat, living in the UK. It doesn't matter over here; it's a personal choice, not everybody else's business. Big difference.

The numbers are up everywhere else in the OECD, big time.
Just watch, when Bush and his cronies are gone from the whitehouse, they'll start coming out of the closets to stand and be counted.
Christianity's days as a major religious movement are surely numbered.

Naw, I think child molesters would beat us, if that group was included in the survey.
Wait, aren't atheists all child molesters? Now I'm getting myself confused.
This lame "discrimination" is all they have. They know we have all the real power. Let them call us names, if they like.
