The movie recommended above is wrong.
It is scientifically wrong. The producer has a clear bias. Channel 4 had to apologise for his unfair distortions of scientific views after they broadcast a 1997 movie of his trashing the environmental movement in general.

" A Channel 4 documentary claimed that climate change was a conspiratorial lie. But an analysis of the evidence it used shows the film was riddled with distortions and errors."

CO2 both causes global warming, due to the greenhouse effect; and also rises due to any warming, natural or man made, due to things such as warmer ocean waters releasing dissolved CO2. Simple, well understood science.

How many people do you know or can name, including yourself, that have come up with really great ideas only to fine out years later they weren't so good after all? History is littered with them. Splitting the atom can be put at the top of the list-was not intended for war.
I have had many ideas, over the years, some good some not so good. Some of the better ones had a far reaching effect & some of those were not so good. Before you start throwing stones check out your life a bit. The internet can, & is, a good thing most of the time-you're using it.
The real point here is to stop, or at least slow down, gobal warming wouldn't you say?

The internet started out as a means of colleges and the military to share information. It was not originally created for the masses. Nor, I'm sure Mr. Gore isn't behind the massive push for faster processors which makes us want to upgrade our machines every couple of years.
I believe Mr. Gore is trying to make us more aware of our impact on this planet before it is too late. Just like Nobel, the creator of dynamite, he didn't want his legacy to be remembered for destruction but for good.

Its not about stoping progress its about going forward responsibily.
Alot of people have the idea that to go green you have to live in the dark in a cave and only wash once a week.
All Gore is asking for you to do is change your light bulbs and walk to the corner shop to get your milk instead of driving. That will make a difference and will also save you money.

He likes being in the limelight, has poor facts backing his argument and who knows, he may run for president. He did not invent the internet. He and some other senators backed a bill to give DARPA funding to work on the internet.

He cares about our world.
It is tragic global warming has become a polarizing political issue.
I don't understand the logic of pretending it's not happening, but the Republicans like to try to belittle the messenger.

I'm not sure what his motivation is. It can't be that he believes he is saving the plannet from doom. He knows Co2 doesn't cause global warming on any kind of scale worth talking about. Global warming causes co2 to rise though.
