No, prayer is a waste of time. It is just people begging to imaginary invisible friends to help them out. Even if there were a god, which there isn't, two or twenty people begging to him shouldn't have any more effect than one.
The real hope is in the doctor's ability to diagnose and treat your sister's condition. Instead of praying, just try to be there for your sister. She might need some support from you. That's more helpful than a billion people praying.
Good luck.

Certainly. Tell Shelley I know the power of prayer: it not only saved my life following a sudden, very serious illness in 2003, I also walked out the hospital 5 or 6 weeks earlier than they expected, and I started back at work the day they thought I would leave hospital at the earliest.
Prayer works; but trust God to know what's right.
God bless you, Shelley, and your family, and the medical team looking after you.

You have my complete sympathy. What you're going through must be awful - in some ways even worse than what your sister's experiencing, because you have no control over events and must sit and wait. Very stressful.
From the tone of your description, it sounds - and I hope I'm not misinterpreting - as though this could be terminal. If that's so, there is a point to note:
Whatever you think about what death is, there really are worse things than dying. Living in pain is one of them. You could say that pain, not death, is the Enemy. In a modern hospital, your sister's pain can be kept to a minimum - even taken away altogether. If the worst comes to the worst, she will not have pain, and can slip away peacefully.
And when someone dies in peace, the only problem is *our* loss - our pain. There's no cure for that except time, but at least it's just we who have it. Our loved one is finally free of problems. That one fact can be a cause for rejoicing, even if it's through our own tears.
I hope you'll forgive me if I don't do any praying. I don't believe anyone's listening. I've been where you are, though, so I know some of what you're feeling. My younger sister died, in total peace. I was sad, but it was sadness for *my* loss. She was free of sadness and pain forever, and that aspect was a good thing.
It's for those of us left behind to recover from our suffering.

Done. It would help if you could offer your sister's first name, and what her condition is, others might not necessarily need that sort of info, but it would help me to focus. I will also keep you and your mother in my thoughts to be comforted and find serenity in a difficult time.
I think it's great that here you can find people of diverse beliefs and denominations joining toward a common goal in unity, that's what it's really all about
PS, I lost my sister to a brain aneurism 5 years ago, you have my sympathy and understanding, with respect to having a sister in the hospital, as well as my prayers...

I have prayed for Shelley and will continue to do so. I shall also pray that God would give you and the rest of your family strength and support in this trying time. May the Lord be with you always. In Jesus' name, Amen.

If you will accept prayers from a non-Christian, I will happily say a prayer for your sister. Please email me and let me know if this is all right with you -- I won't do so until I receive your permission. :-)
In any case, I wish your family the best of luck.

Hello sweet little sister Serena.. :)
Dear Heavenly Father Lord God..Your Holy word says: When two or more are gathered in Your Name..You are in their midst..Ask and it shall be given..Seek and ye shall find..Knock and the door shall be opened..
We lift up unto Thee this precious child in faith believing, who is in need of Your healing touch..Lord God we know You are the Great Physician..
If it be Your will dear sweet Jesus to use the Physician's to help this sweet sister, then we ask that You will open up their eyes, ears to grant them Your knowledge, as how to treat her condition..
We thank-you Lord for hearing and answering our prayer..In Jesus Most Precious Name..Amen!!
With Love..your sister..In Christ.. :)

Revelation 21:3-4......With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. Â And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
We could all pray for God's kingdom, the only solution to mankind's problems
