Both are great, durable vehicles- I drive taxi cabs and the company I work for buys Camrys and some of have like 550k on the engines- they do get serviced regularly but man they run forever.
I just bought a '07 Camry XLE, last week because I was so impressed wiht how long those cabs last.

Gee, do you have enough answers about buying American?! Don't listen to them!!!

I have a 2006 Acura TSX (which is Europe's Accord- roughly the same as the Accord) and my husband has a 2007 Camry. Before he bought his Camry, we struggled with the same problem. He chose the Camry because the Accord was too close to my car, and we wanted a bit of variety.

Both are great cars. I'm biased toward the Accord because Honda focused more on the interior looks and you'll spend most of your time on the inside of your car. The Camry has a great looking exterior, but there's not much excitement on the inside. My recommendation is that if you want fun on the inside of the car, go for the Accord. If you want fun on the outside and lots of room on the inside (good for a family), go for the Camry. The Accord is definately a more fun drive and it has a bit more pick-up than the Camry. To a lot of people, the Accord is a bit younger of a car.

Overall, we havn't had any mechanical problems with either (my mom has a 2000 Accord- no problems there either).

Just a point: both Camry and Accord have higher reliability history than ALL of Chevy's and Ford's models (except for the very few new ones for which CR has insufficient data), and better overall "report cards". This is all per Consumer Reports.

Good luck with your search!

I would go with the Camry because we used to have a Camry. We had a 1989 Camry with 157000 miles before we got in an accident. I have never had a Honda but they are no more reliable than a Toyota. As for you people saying buy American, get real. We all know that American cars will break down with less than 100000. There is proof of that.

obviously, you should ignore the people that say that they are both japanese, and you should stick with american, because both cars are built IN THE UNITED STATES.
Honda has an accord plant in Marysville, Ohio, and toyota has a camry plant in Georgetown, Kentucky.
So, take their recommendation and buy an american car, just stay away from gm (Not a single GM model was on the top 10 "Best Buy" cars from JD Power and Consumer Affirs in EVERY SINGLE CATAGORY.)
Anyways, both cars have amazing reliability. On nearly every cosumer group, (consumer affiars, consumer reports, jd power, etc) the camry is #1, and the accord is #2.
If i was buying the car within the next 3 months, i would take the camry, because, in 2008 the accord is being redesigned, and if you have a 2007 model, the resale price will suffer. (it happens everytime a car gets a makeover).
Another reason i would stick with the camry, is the performance.
The 2007 camry is the fastest car under $25,000.
Both the camry and accord have 6 speed manual transmissions, and v6s that are comparable. the 3.5l v6 in the camry makes 268hp
the accord 3.0l v6 253hp
If the 2008 accord was out today, i would snap it up. The redesign is amazing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Auto_Show_064.jpg

So my conclusion...
Looks=2008 Accord (today, 2007 camry)
Performance=2008 accord (Today, 2007 camry)
Gas Milage=They both have hybrids, however, toyota has sold more hybrids in america then honda, so parts are easier to come by.
Reliability=To close to call
Tunability=The accord owns this hands down. they have a much bigger aftermarket.

Accord can be expensive than Camry as both cars are better as top selling cars in America. If you want to choice one of two cars. Or you can choice other model of Honda and Toyota as Civic and Corollia. Civic is bigger and heavier than Corolla.

Which model would you go with for each?

The 2007 Camry has standard safety equipment like 7 airbags (including driver's knee airbag), abs with brake force distribution and the msrp is only $7 more than what it was back in 1997!!!---true fact, i sell toyotas

If you are thinking v6 with options, the Camry is definately faster. It has 268 hp with a 6 speed auto transmission and the se v6 model ran the quarter mile in 14.7 which is faster than the 350z convertible!!!

Let me know what model, engine, options you want and I can help you if you need it

Niether, the Saturn Aura blows tham all away because of its looks and value (see the link below). The Aura was awarded the North American Car of the Year, competing against cars from Lexus, BMW, Acura, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, and all those companies. Honda Accord sales have gone up almost 50% because of Toyotas bad publicity with engine sludge, faulty transmissions, massive recalls, and slipping quality and reliability. In this link there are quite a few reasons why GM is better, there is a section on the Camry VS the Aura VS the Impala http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjBWXBH9.rW4w8Xffa0c8Ujty6IX?qid=20070301210328AAn8E5d Go to the dealers and test all of them in the trim you would buy. Its the only real way to make sure your getting what you want. There is too much of a difference between models to assume a base Camry SE is anything like the top of the line XLE you drove, because the problems the XLE will not stand out nearly as much. Its Ok with the Saturn since the only difference between the XE and XR is a 3.5 liter V6 against the XRs 3.6 liter V6 and a few standard options. The Aura stands out on the road, while the others blend in. The Aura comes with a standard V6 and automatic transmission, already saving you thousands against a rival import. The Accord is better than the CAmry, but the Aura blows them all away with its beatiful looks and excellent value.

Honda's are no more reliable than Toyota's. Regular maintenance and you will get 300k plus out of both of them. My friends mom has a 1993 Camry with over 300k miles on it, and she says it has given her no problems. The choice would be the Camry for me. As for people saying go with a GM car -- GET REAL!!! They lack refinement, taste, luxury, class, and they will break down on you. My friend has a brand new Chevy Equinox, and she has had soooo many problems with that POS already.

The Camry would be my choice, rock solid reliability, resale value. As long as Toyota keeps their commitment to continuous improvement and excellent engineering, I will buy nothing else.
