Its an abbreviation (short form) for Laugh Out Loud.
LOL is actually Lots of Love but its brought to a whole new meaning.
So yes on internet it is a slang meaning Laugh Out Loud.

This question had been asked several times already. It means Laugh Out Loud. But many people use it to mean Lots Of Love. I prefer the latter.

Don't feel bad when I first started doing this I didn't know what it meant either. I finally went out and bought a computer lingo dictionary. Hey I have to have my kids help me with the computer and I'm not that old!

I think you'll find it means "Laugh/ing out loud" or, at a pinch, "Lots of love". Either way, as it is merely a text-phone abbreviation, it is not necessary to use it on this site ! ! !
