Hi! I live in Bournemouth so have do some extensive research in this area!!

It all really depends but you should be warned that its a pretty pretenious town in general- lots of people who think they're better than everyone else... But, having said that, plenty who are lovely ;- ).

Anyway, if you were to start at 'the top' (Holdenhurst road, by the train station and Asda) then you have Sound Circus which is the nearest thing to a rock club- but obviously you wouldnt start there!

Next worth mentioning is The inferno. Student place so cheap drinks with a couple of pool tables and usually have football/rugby on on a saturday afternoon.

The old Firestation is a student club. Massive inside but generally need to signed in by a student- can always hang around and proposition people!!

The Gander is a small pub above metrople (use non-descript wannabe pub). The Gander is again the place for the rock-inclined clientle!

You then have a massive stretch of road, old christchurch road, that has LOADS of pubs. Starts with usual chains: O'neils, The Litten Tree etc. Same old stuff but perfectly acceptable! Bar Vin normally plays a mixture of chart stuff (rnb, 80's, bit of chart rock etc). Ive had many a fun night here! But depend what music youre into. DNA, across the road is an R'n'B club- does great cocktails but music can be a bit hit and miss.

If you like dance music, 176 and Dusk til Dawn, on the same road, are the places for you (esp. Dusk til Dawn, apparently they have one of the best sound systems in the country and are opened very late).

Walkabout and yates are the same as any other in the country! Have to pay after a certain time.

Then you have Elements (might have been renamed to Club Basic- not been for a few months) which is b'mouths 'super club'. Biggest without a doubt and, as it has 4 rooms, generally has the most commercial choice.

Then Toko and Bliss. If you're down on a thursday, Bliss have a great karaoke night and then Toko is 1.50 drinks (student night so is RAMMED). Both are packed at the weekend and you have to FIGHT to get served and then are charged 4.50 for any drink. OUTRAGEOUS!! Usually cheesy mixture of music but still really popular (free to get in all night and opened late).

Only other notable is Censo, just round the road, past the church.

As a rule, the drinks are expensive in most places (bar chains) and its a meat market everywhere! But there are SO many bars and all within easy walking distance that if you dont like it, move on!

Only warning is that id you're in a big group of guys, stagger your entrance. The bouncers dont like big groups of boys, esp if youre not local!

Blimey.... sorry, thats a lot of information!!

THE INFERNO and then on to any of the 'grab-a-Ganny' bars.
be careful there is a lot of 'mutton dressed as lamb' "ladies" out there.
