I just bougth my golden retriever (2 month old) to my home, but she seems scared and sad. I dont know if it is because she misses her family. There are times when she is happy playing with my kids, but when stop paying attention to her she goes to a corner to lay down. I thought they were active dogs with full of energy? especially when they a puppies. how long does it take for a pup to get used to there new home? And will she be more active when she feels more confortable? Is it something I should be worried about?

Yes, almost all puppies need some adjustment time. While she is playing with your kids, her mind isn’t on the new place, the new people, and the new sights and smells around her, but when the games stop, she has time to feel stressed (kind of like some people deal with worry best if they are occupied; if they slow down, they have time to worry again, so they keep busy). Also, this is the first time in her life she is without her mother or littermates, and that can also be hard on a pup.

It isn’t like something you buy and bring home and it starts “working” right away. A puppy has worries and fears and just needs time to get over them. There really isn’t anything you can do to rush the process.

Within a few days to a week (it varies), her true personality will come out. You can’t very well expect a pup to be ripped away from everything he/she ever knew without any reaction, can you? Please don’t worry.

I would start to worry if she is not a playful little bundle of energy within a week, but for now, she’s acting very normal.

Don't worry. Give her a week or two and by then, she should be settled and happy in her new home. It's just like a child would be scared and afraid if they were taken from their mum and taken to a new place. They are very active dogs and have lots of energy but not so much in the first few weeks. Wait until she gets older ;)

Does she have a nice secure kennel to sleep in, which acts as her "den"? If she does, and you're otherwise looking after her properly, and the kids aren't monstering her when she's tired and wants to rest, she will be fine in a week or so. Don't worry and enjoy her.

She maybe afraid of her new surroundings. Just be patient with her and give her lots of attention to calm her.

How long have you had it? It might not be adjusted yet.
