Jesus was not talking to Christians, Christianity did not start until Jesus rose from the dead. He was talking to the Jews, particulary the Pharisees. You need to read the Bible more fully and not just pick and choose verses if you are going to pick on Christians. However, Jesus is right, we all are sinful. He can call any generation evil and adulterous, precisely why we need Him for our savior.

As others have replied, Jesus was not addressing Christians when he made this indictment; he was talking to Jewish leaders.
But it is true that there is a lot of adultery committed in Western nations like America. The question is, is America a Christian nation? It might have been at one time, and there are a lot of Christians living here, but I don't believe it is today.

You people are soooo good about taking verses out of context.
Read verse 6:1 and you see he was talking to the religious leaders of that day.
Matthew 16
Leaders Demand a Miraculous Sign
1 One day the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority.

The adulterous statment was not just of a sexual immorality charge. Their is only one God and if you put anything else in your life at more value than God. Then to God you worship that and you have commmited adultry on him. Glad to see you are trying to find the truth.

Jesus was talking to the Jews who had left their first love (GOD) and followed after their own lusts and other Gods.He was the fulfillment of what they waited for but did not recognize him as such, demanding signs and wonders.
technically Christians (which by the way he refers to as "my beloved children" and "my sheep".) did not exist untill after his death and resurection that heralded in the new covenant and the out pouring of the Holy spirit.Christians are those who accept him as savior, those you speak of are those who reject him as Gods son and way of salvation.
Apparently you have been reading the bible and i cant fault you for that .but now i suggest you pray before hand for the wisdom of understanding and right division of the word.knoledge without understanding is useless.

We all fall short from the glory of God. The main thing is that sin is not going to be a reason if one is separated from God in eternity when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Sin is dealt with. One is never going to be with God if one does not believe that Jesus saves. : )

you need to stop w/ the baiting. If you've read it, you know Jesus was talking to the Jewish religious leaders. Christians weren't around until after the Ressurection.

It is obvious that you don't know or understand that which you read, this is referring to the non-believers, they are the ones always wanting some kind of sign or proof.
