I'm 6 years older than my husband, but I was 39 when I married him. We are great together, but I think that the fact that we are both older makes a difference. If I had been like 22, he would have been 16 and we wouldn't have anything in common. Also our levels of maturity would have been significantly different. When I was 19 I dated a guy 5 years older than me and the age difference was way too big!!!! I think that age differences should be judged more as a percentage of age differences. For me and my husband the age difference is only about 15% of our ages (6 divided by 39). That means that I only have about 15% more experience on this earth than he does. If you are say, a 15 year old and the other person that you want to date is 21, then the difference is closer to 30% (6 divided by 21) AND the years that you are missing are those SO IMPORTANT adulthood years, then the other person has way more experience and has more power in the relationship because of it. You are very likely to be getting used and not know it. You haven't developed the independance that you need to be an equally contributing partner, and I would say that it is not a good foundation for a relationship. Best of Luck!

You have to specify the ages: some 6 years difference ages are wrong: the older the people, the less difference it seems to make. Here are some of the spans:
16 22 NO.
17 23 NO
18 24 NO
19 25 NO, but gettting closer to being OK
20 26 NO,. " " "
21 27 NO " " "
22 28 OK
23 29 OK
24 30 OK
25 31 OK
26 32 OK
etc.

Depends on the age. If the younger person is under 18, they shouldn't be going out with anyone at all. Over 18, don't see the problem

Five years is the cut off AND you have to be OVER 21 while that is happening....or it won't work!! I don't think 6 years is a big deal though if you both are over 21 years old but NO older.

I don't think it is wrong. Heck, i am seeing someone nine years older than me and i am doing just fine. My parents have a ten year age difference and they are also doing just fine. I think more experienced people are the best way to a healthy relationship.

I don't think it's wrong. I go out with some one 15 years younger. Of course it's wrong for an older person to go out with a minor.

It;s only wrong if one of them is a minor, e.g. the man in 19 and he's going out with a 13 year old girl. If both parties are consenting adults then there is nothing wrong with it.
