me and my partner ar emoving to milton keynes, and apart from people saying that it is like a concrete jungl;e and there are roundabouts everywhere (we already knew this) can anyone let me know what it is like in terms of shopping, nightlife etc.?? thanks...

town of the concrete cows!
milton keynes is as good as u make it.
it has everything, shopping, pubs, bars & social clubs.
all it lacks is a history, which is still in the making.

I live in Milton Keynes and absoultely love it! Shopping here is amazing........the City Centre houses Europe's largest covered shopping centre, with every kind of shop you could imagine. Nightlife here is fantastic, there are two main areas of nightlife - the Theatre District which has bars like Buddah Blue, Yates', Lloyds and some lesser known bars. It also has a number of restaurants including Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays and others. There is also the Xscape Building which has a Wetherspoons, Oceana (well worth a visit) and Mood Bar. The Cinema (Cineworld) is also in this building, along with some more restaurants and bars, and more importantly, the indoor Ski Slope!
Granted, there are a lot of roundabouts, but that does assist with the traffic flow, especially during rush hour.

Both shopping and nightlife are good in MK. There's lots of places to go in the centre of town. You have the theatre district that has a lot of different bars/resterants and the Xscape centre has more of the same, but with an indoor ski slope inside too.
(BTW, you mentioned the roundabouts, but you forgot about the concrete cows!! No, they are not an urban myth, they do exist)

There is a big shopping centre. Which is pretty darned cool. With a complex with an indoor ski slope and cinemas and (of course) the legendary McDonald's.

I havent been to the night life but they have a good shopping centers and a fantastic building that you can go sking in it

Please make sure you visit this place before you decide where to live. The town is soul-less, to put it politely. There are some pretty villlages not far away though - so do have a drive around and see if you can find somewhere more attractive to live.
