Do you mean Jessica Dubroff? She was flying with her father when their plane crashed and killed them both.

You'd be amazed at what kids can do. There's really no hazard to letting a kid handle the controls under adult supervision while up in the air. Takeoffs and landings require more training and practice, of course, but there are plenty of cases of kids learning to fly at very young ages.

This was a few years ago. A father was accompanying his young daughter as she flew across the US. They were both killed in a crash. I can't recall their names. I remember there was a lot of debate on whether the parents were irresponsible or not.
