I think you'll find that most Iraqis being killed are killed by other Iraqis. Those Iraqis that are killed by US or UK troops are for the most part terrorists intent on killing Iraqi civillians or the troops themselves.
And where did you get "1000s" from? You live in a dream world. I don't think there has been a single day when the number of Iraqis killed by ALL UK and US troops has reached anything near 1,000 in total.
We are also talking about two separate countries - the 15 British SAILORS and MARINES (including one woman) are being held illegally by IRAN, not Iraq. The only connection between the two is that Iran is supplying much of the arms and explosives being used by the terrorists in Iraq.
"no bombings and killings before this war"?? the most ridiculous statement yet... how about the Iran/Iraq war, the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait? the tens of thousands killed by Saddam's regime such as the Kurds and Marsh Arabs, the torture and murder of thousands of Iraqis who opposed Saddam. Take a reality check.
Word of advice: in future, before you shoot your mouth off, make sure your brains are loaded.

It's important because those are 15 soldiers dead for a war that was justified by lies told by an illegally elected president, and those soldiers are killing Iraqis who are perfectly able to sort out solutions themselves.
If that's not enough, ask the families of those soldiers if their soldier died to "liberate" Iraq, or did they die for cheap gas prices?
Why can't the USA just buy oil on the open market like civilized nations do everyday, instead of killing and bombing and murdering and torturing and poisoning and ruining a country just to get what they need? It's murderous theft of another country's natural resources - and the people of the United States support it every day and have been doing it for many decades!!

Alright...I'm a little confused here. Do you know what the Rules Of Engagement are for Iraq? Soldier's are not over there just killing Iraqis...that would be a crime because it's technically a peace mission over there. It's the actual Iraqis that are causing the most deaths...I was involved in several ambushes (we were the ones that were attacked) and my squad didn't kill anyone. However, several Iraqis were killed from the explosion.
Talk to more veterans and learn about what really goes on in Iraq.

1000's every day? What possible answer could there be given to someone that believes such an idiotic thing? Lets just say each soldier kills just a 1000.
Lets say there are 250,000 soldiers. That comes out to 250,000,000 a day. Lets see, the population of Iraqi is 26,783,383. that would mean the war would have been completely over in about what? 10 minutes? you do the math.

Let's do a little math...shall we...The population of Iraq was estimated in 2005 at being 26,074,906. Our troops have been over there for four years now. Let's just round the number to 100,000 to make it easier for YOU to comprehend. 100,000 troops killing 1000 Iraqis "every day" for four years. We would have depopulated the entire country the first year!!
Go back to school, honey. You need to work on that whole intellectual thought process thing.
Edit: Jeeper_Peeper...You rock!
Edit: Lilium...Don't even try to justify yourself. Trying to make rational arguments with outrageous statements only makes you look foolish. The only people who will get your "point" are those that don't care about facts.

Dear Lilium:
I think a lot of the answers are doing the math thing and have not seen the thrust of your question.
I'm not sure that I do too.
It is total madness in that country and there are no answers.
The only important thing that I believe is that the Terrorists are murdering (the intent to kill) innocent people. They don't care who they murder They only know when they die they will go to a better place based on their interpretation of their religious beliefs.
Somehow and hopefully someday the Terrorists will learn that their way is wrong.
Up until that time happens, if it ever does, all peace-loving people will continue to kill that enemy and will suffer their own losses.
It is good that you have a concern.
God bless you,

The fundamental flaw in your question is the fact that each soldier does not kill thousands of Iraqis every day.
However, I do agree with the position that the detention of 15 professionally trained killers (that's what soldiers are, after all) is nothing compared to the mayhem innocent civilian Iraqis have to endure and die from each and every day.

You are getting some bad information. Most of the deaths are by other Iraqis killing each other in trying to gain control either Kurd, Shiite, or Sunni.
The 15 English were doing their job looking for smugglers in Iraqi waters and Iran comes along and kidnaps them.
You seem to think you know about the military, how many years did you serve??????? I served 6 years active.

every life is sacred.it is not soldier who kills ,its politicians who get into a war who cause bloodletting and destruction.soldiers are not guilty because they are doing the jobs they are assigned to.15 seamen now held under arrest in iran are guilty of nothing.persian gulf is a messy place to be near at first place.when iran and iraq started a war 10-12 yrs ago it started over each sides claim on their boundries in persian gulf.these boundries never been verified nor clarified because their war ended without the resulotion.united nations never passed a resolution settling Iran-Iraqs claims one way or another.soldiers were in an area called(shattol-arab)by arab countries.soldiers leave their families and loved ones behind to go to most dangerous places to do the most dangerous jobs so you and i could live in secure and safe environment.i respect your opinion because that is why soldiers fight so you can retain theright to express your opinions.
