For the people who say the show has no direction, they obviously aren't paying attention.

Season 1 we learn all about the fuselage section of Losties... season 2, we learn about the tail section and season 3 we learn about the others. That's pretty basic... but the show still centers on the island.

With season 3 we are getting in to a lot of the island mysteries. I feel that Locke and Ben are going to start working together. Ben clearly believes the island has chosen Locke and that Locke has some deep and spiritual connection with the island. Ben will use Locke as a conduit to the island in hopes the he will learn the things Locke knows and hopefully share the secrets he has learned since being born on the island.

Theories... the others / hostiles are a group of people working for Alvar Hanso. The island is a family legacy of the Hanso's starting with Magnus Hanso who captain'd the slave ship The Black Rock which crashed on the island around 200 years ago.

Alvar was eager to fund the DHARMA Initiative and put them on that island. DHARMA being purely interested in scientific research with a sort of hippie-centric ideal would have conflicted with Hanso's people who might want some sort of military research. Since Alvar was an "industrialist and munitions magnate" I would say he would want some sort of research he could profit from, especially militaristic in nature. This would have caused the conflict or "war" between DHARMA and the 'hostiles'. I'm sure we will learn more about both DHARMA and the hostiles in the upcoming episodes.

There's a lot of information that was made available during TLE (The Lost Experience) not to mention some things that happened in the book, BAD TWIN. Bad Twin focuses more on Widmore Corporation but we learn that the Hanso Foundation has an office HQ located in the Widmore Corp building in NY. Now much of TLE and the info in Bad Twin will relate to the actual show is any one's guess but hopefully since Sawyer was reading the manuscript for Bad Twin, and it was dedicated to Cindy, the stewardess that was taken by the others, it does have some sort of relevance to the show.

I also think Desmond and Locke are going to be the key to unlocking a lot of mysteries on the island.

As for the next episode, I think we can all agree, WHO CARES. Niki and Paulo aren't going to be considered main characters no matter how hard they try to force them on us, no matter how many cameos and flashback senses... they just aren't interesting characters. They need to stay on track with ISLAND which to me is the most interesting character of the show.

The latest episode was really good. It finally explained how Locke waas injured, and how it was his father who put him in the wheel-chair. But seeing that his father was tied up in that little room at the end of the episode, blew my mind. What next? I'll be watching.

Don't worry...even the writer's of the show are confused.

Haven't you noticed that LOST has no sense of direction anymore?
The writer's are putting together scripts "on the fly" just to meet production deadlines and as it turns out, the viewing audience is a bit smarter than they were given credit for...ratings have dropped since the shows started making no sense whatsoever.

Frankly, I caught on after the first season and have not been a regular viewer since.
