Now, for every two cards of socer exchanged, he gets 3 cards of basketball. so, exchange two soccer cards (15 --> 13) and buys three cards of basketball (13 -- > 16). Repeat this exercise one more time and you will get answer.

let the number of soccer cards be 'x'

17 (bball cards) * 2 (dollars) + 3x=45
34+3x=45
3x=45-34=9
x=3

number of soccer cards = 3
