I know your like, " how can you subtract 1/5 from 1/3"? But thats what I'm trying to figure out. It is possible. If you know the answer can you give me a better explanation on how you got the answer. tell me the math steps or website or anything.

Find the common denomiator first. That would be done by multiplying the denomators of both fractions.

1/3 - 1/5 is your question.

Common denomiator is 15...............3 X's 5.

1/3 is the same as 5/15 ths.
1/5 is the same as 3/15 ths.

Subsituting we have 5/15 - 3/15 = 2/15 which is your answer.

multiply the denominators, 5*3=15
15 is our new common denominator.
then 15/3 = 5 and 15/5 = 3
so
(5-3)/15= 2/15
