Am I beating a dead horse trying to communicate? Is there a way to get a point across? Do shallow minded people generally have a higher IQ? Thanks for any help/guidance

There is a wide range of 'shallow minded' since some are geniuses and some are just simple minded. The problem is with those of us who have vocabularies, read, and think a lot about everything. Simple minded don't bother with heavy thinking, read only out of necessity and couldn't tell you much about an abacus, the genius could use the abacus, give a complete history of it and where they read it then tell you the very next word that will come after it in a dictionary, if pressed to do so. Just test the waters with probing questions and then you should know how small your small talk should be, or how much you may have to work your brain to stay in the conversation at all with a shallow genius.

Shallow minded people generally have a lower IQ and they see things pretty much in black and white. The trouble there is that there are a lot of grey areas in this world. It's not much use to try to persuade them to think as you do.

based on my personal experience yes shallow minded people are very hard to communicate with . they are pretty much set on what they have in mind and beliefs that it's basically impossible to make them understand your point eventhough majority supports you or even if there's factual evidence of whatever it is you are trying to explain to them .

higher IQ, absolutely not...
Intelligent people are open minded.
to cope with shallow minded people u have to avoid opening conversations with them. and treat them exactly as u treat computers to get things done.

What's your definition of shallow-mindedness?
To me, one indicator would be those who generalize about people like you do in your question.
But then, the 'definition' of 'shallow-minded' is open to many interpretations, if you don't consider me to be shallow-minded saying that.
