The fetus sleeps when you go for a long walk. It really enjoys that; it's good for both of you.

I have 2 kids and I found that their sleep pattern in the month or so before birth continues on afterwards. My first baby would sleep through the night inside me; he was so deeply asleep that he never moved when I got up (3 times a night) to use the toilet. Sure enough, when he was born (weighing 10lb 10oz) he wanted to sleep 8-10 hours a night straight away. I have never heard of this happening before.

My second baby always seemed to have a period of thrashing around at night. Sure enough, he would wake for a 3-hour feed in the middle of the night.

The fetus is also there inside you to get to know you. It is born knowing your voice and even close family members' voices. It also knows your smell and enjoys when you are relaxed and happy.

They do sleep.
You can actualy tell when they are sleeping or awake. Asleep there tends to be less movement and kicking etc. Awake they are kicking and doing somersaults.

With my first she had a sleep schedule in the womb. She would wake up in the morning before I left for work. As I walked to work she would fall asleep and stay that way till I finished. Once I was home she would wake and move and dance or whatever she did. Then at night when I was trying to sleep she would stay awake and kick the crap out of me.

Fetuses have been observed having periods of sleep and wakefulness just like newborns.

The fetus is in a state of constant sleep and since it has no memories it has no dreams either
