my boyfriends sister accepted a file on MSN. The message said "Hey accept my photo album, Nice new pics of me and my friends and stuff and when i was young lol... " and then sends a file called "photo album.zip"
How can we get rid of it?

If you left it, and havent opened it, permanently delete it. It will be a spyware, so right now your PC is under constant survelience. Get Spyware Sweeper, or spybot, or some other good anti-spyware program, to delete it..

REMOVAL OF TORJAN HORSE VIRUS: First u have to install windows after formatting the C drive.
After installation go to “Start”>”All Programs”>”Accessories”> “Windows Explorer”
Now go to “Tools”>”Folder Options”, in it click on “View”
Now click on “Show Hidden Files and Folders”, and also uncheck all its sub options.
After that in Windows Explorer click on D: partition of ur hard drive.
There u can see these files “ie.exe” “RavMonE.exe” “Autorun.inf” “msvcr71.dll” “Recycler (this is a folder)” Delete all of them.
Now click on ur other partitions of Hard Drive and delete those files from all the petitions u have.
After that ur system is free from that virus.
CAUTION: every time u plug any USB or that type of removable device u have to check it first thought windows explorer, if there is virus u have to delete them first, then after use the device. If u double click the device thought My Computer or Auto run window (which opens after plugging the device) if the virus file in that device it runs and ur computer is again effected, So Take Care.
RECOMMENDATION: Use Symantec Anti Virus Software for virus protection.
Note: After installing Symantec Anti Virus u should have to do which I said u in Caution. Antivirus deletes some files not all.

The problem u r facing is becoz of "trojen horce" which is a virus which disturbs your computer's internet application settings.
The best way to get it removed is to use AVAST antivirus. AVASTis free to all & it effectively removes the viruses, especially trojens. I am using it from last 18 months & i think it is worth & capable of solving ur problem.
